Tilapia Breeding

Blue Tilapia are a satisfying and easy varieties to breed.  All they might need is good normal water conditions, quality food, warm temp (they choose 80 to 86 certifications) and a continuing way to obtain dissolved air in water.  The seafood use oxygen to metabolicly process their food.  This is actually the rub, if you believe you can toss 6 or 8 seafood in a rainfall barrel rather than pay any focus on them, you'd be mistaken.

Sure, they could live plus they may get large enough to breed, nevertheless they would not prosper and present you a good, ongoing way to obtain quality babies. It's important as a Freshwater Professional Test Set to keep an eye on your normal water chemistry, the right 50% health proteins food (I take advantage of Purina Aquamax 300) in the correct size pellet to nourish them, heating units (depending on your geographical area) and air pushes. I began with a 55 gal fish tank and a 20 gal container and was completely out of room in 14 days.  They are incredibly prolific.....

There are always a couple of methods for getting a breeder colony jointly; First, you may do what I did so and purchase a breeder colony from an established dealer .  That is a terrific way to begin faster, but it is more expensive than the choice.  Second, you may buy some combined making love fingerlings, maybe 25 roughly, split them into three teams when they are three to four 4 in ., watch their behavior closely and finally the males can be obvious. The drawback is enough time it takes to essentially get started, the benefit is it is approximately 1/5 th the price.

When you ensure you get your breeding colony set up, it will not take miss them to start out breeding.  I acquired my breeder colony Apr 2nd, pondering within a couple weeks I'd have a couple of hundred babies.  Well, in a few days two females acquired eggs and by the finish of the week all five females acquired eggs. The picture to your right is of the first five females in the breeder colony, which are hauling eggs. Between them there are about 4000 newborns.

Make an effort to keep accurate information of the proceedings with your seafood. If possible, determine ways to find the dissimilarities in the females then name them or amount them. Keep mating records. Whenever a female starts to transport eggs, mark your day on your calendar.  WHENEVER I note that a lady is holding, I hang on 8 days and let her stay static in the breeder reservoir.

On day 8, I syphon about 4 ins of water into a 5 gallon bucket and gently net that female from the breeder tank positioning her in the bucket.  Be sure you rinse the web in to the bucket, they often spit some fry in to the net.  Set the web aside and smoothly pick up the feminine holding her within the drinking water in the bucket.  With one finger, open up her oral cavity and gently rinse out the rest of the fry out of her mouth area by dipping her face in this particular then lift up her up and place her back the breeder container.....you now have a eager mommy in the breeder reservoir and a couple of babies to manage in the 5 gallon bucket.

Make certain mother gets a few good foods before the men begins harassing her to breed again.  In a minute, the fry will be going swimming all around the bucket.  At 8 times the fry are free going swimming and a large proportion won't have a yolk sac still obvious.  Have a digital picture of the fry in the bucket (utilizing a white bucket helps), printing the picture and count number the fry by simply putting a series through each seafood, or a dot, or whatever is best for you.  You now have a total record which female had just how many babies and all your dates.
